Cardiff Zen Day
After an introduction to Zen practice, we shall spend a silent
day in sitting meditation (zazen) interspersed with walking meditation
(kinhin). In our meditation we will practice attentiveness to the breath
which, together with the stillness of the body, helps to free the mind
from its ordinary mental activities and offers an insight into the
oneness of life. This insight reveals to us our own human
potential and calls us to use this in the service of others. It brings
us to the present moment, clarifying and supporting our readiness to
meet the ever-changing circumstances of our daily life.
Zen is a gift for anyone, whatever their background, faith or tradition.
This Zen day will be facilitated by Mark Scholefield, a long-standing
Zen practitioner under Roshi Robert Kennedy of the White Plum Zen
lineage. He is based at the Ammerdown Centre, near Bath, where he runs
regular Zen days and weekend retreats.
Mats and cushions will be provided. You may also choose to sit on a chair.
